Breaking News: Volgograd Undergoes Another Drone Attack

Volgograd, Russia, has once again been the target of a drone attack, marking the second such incident in less than a week. The latest attack occurred on the night of August 23, 2025, with the city's Petrov Val district taking the brunt of the impact, resulting in a fire near a railway station.

This incident follows an earlier attack on August 18–19, where the Lukoil oil refinery and Hospital No. 16 in Volgograd city were targeted. More than 15 explosions were reported overnight, with the Russian Ministry of Defense claiming to have shot down 13 drones during that night. The regional governor confirmed the attack, reporting no casualties.

In response to these attacks, Volgograd Airport temporarily closed its operations as of August 19, resulting in delays for some flights. However, the airport has since partially resumed operations.

In a separate incident, debris from a neutralized drone fell on the roof of an apartment building on Oplotnaya Street in the Traktorozavodsky District of Volgograd. Locals reported hearing explosions during the attacks.

The exact type or number of Ukrainian drones involved in these attacks is unknown. The cause of the explosions is not specified, and no information is provided about casualties or damages caused by the explosions.

Air defense units have been active over the Volgograd region, reportedly destroying several Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). Notably, one of the downed UAVs caused a fire and smoke in the Krasnoarmeisky District.

Despite the ongoing attacks, no reported casualties or significant damages have been attributed to the drone strikes in Volgograd. The flight restrictions aim to ensure flight safety in the region.

In a previous incident, a drone was shot down near Belgorod with the inscription "with love for the residents." This fact serves as a grim reminder of the ongoing tensions and the unpredictable nature of these attacks.

As the situation continues to develop, we will bring you updates on this unfolding story. Stay tuned for more information.
