City leaders express confidence that Kunene will be approved to run for mayor of Johannesburg
The Patriotic Alliance (PA) has not released the findings of an internal investigation into Kenny Kunene's alleged involvement with Katiso "KT" Molefe, a murder suspect. As of the time of this article, the investigation is still ongoing.
Despite Kunene's suspension from the party, the PA has not revoked his status as the mayoral candidate for Joburg. The PA leader, Gayton McKenzie, announced Kunene as the party's mayoral candidate during a Facebook live stream.

Kunene is expected to be cleared to contest for the Joburg mayorship once he is cleared by the investigation. Upon being cleared, Kunene will resume his party activities, according to Motale.
