Saarbrücken, Germany - The "Common Ground SaarMoselle" project, a pioneering model for cross-border democratic participation in Europe, is currently underway in the Hauberisser Hall of Saarbrücken's St. Johann Town Hall. This innovative initiative, part of the "Common Ground - Co-shaping Across Borders" program, is funded by the Robert Bosch Foundation from 2022 to 2025 and involves 40 citizens from Germany and France working together to develop concrete suggestions for improving daily life in the Franco-German border region.

Mayor Uwe Conradt of Saarbrücken has emphasized the project's significance for the region, stating that it enables them to incorporate the perspectives of people across borders. The participants have been intensively addressing questions of cooperation in the Eurodistrict SaarMoselle for over a year.

The bilingual exhibition, open Monday to Saturday from 9 am to 6 pm, makes the commitment to breaking down barriers and finding joint solutions visible. It showcases the results of the Citizens' Council's work, with personal experiences and concrete suggestions from everyday cross-border life on display. The report documenting the results of their work is available online at [www.saarbruecken.de/abschluss_common_ground].

The project's innovative approach to citizen participation in Europe is considered a beacon for the region. The Eurodistrict SaarMoselle will take over project management in the future, with a second phase of the project planned to begin in early 2026, also supported by the Robert Bosch Foundation.

For those interested in learning more about the project's objectives and effects, it would be best to consult official Eurodistrict SaarMoselle publications, their website, or relevant recent reports from regional authorities or European cross-border cooperation initiatives.
