City government resumes its role and operations.

The City Music Association, formerly known as the Association of music-performing clubs Bergisch Gladbach e.V., has recently undergone a transformation. The organisation, based in Bergisch Gladbach, has changed its name to "City Music Association" to reflect a shift in focus and a broader representation of the city's music scene.

The City Music Association represents the interests of the free music scene towards the politics, council, and administration of the city, and works closely with the City Cultural Association. This amateur organisation, open to music-performing and music-promoting amateur organisations and groups resident in Bergisch Gladbach, aims to be a low-threshold and active platform for musical participation.

The change in name also indicates a change in content, as the City Music Association now welcomes musical ensembles that are not organized as clubs. This move is intended to encourage a wider range of amateur music groups to become involved.

The City Music Association's new website is designed to promote itself as a platform for musical participation. Here, music enthusiasts who are new to the city can find suitable choirs, orchestras, and bands. The website also serves as a resource for those looking to get involved in music in Bergisch Gladbach, and as a means for members to announce their concerts.

In the Spring 2023 Wandelkoncert, ten different choirs and instrumental ensembles presented themselves in short concerts at the Bergischer Löwe. The audience for this event was enormous, demonstrating the growing interest in the city's music scene. The City Music Association is planning a repeat of this event in September 2026, with the event taking place as an open-air event on the Zanders site.

The planned music ensembles for the open-air edition of the Wandelkonzert in September 2026 at the Zanders site have not been specifically named yet. However, the Stadtverband Musik aims to include a wide range of musical ensembles, including those not formally organized as clubs, reflecting a broad representation of amateur music groups in Bergisch Gladbach.

The City Music Association continues to work towards making music of all kinds visible and audible in the city society through joint actions. By offering a welcoming and inclusive environment, the organisation hopes to encourage more people to participate in and enjoy the city's vibrant music scene.
