City center of Smiths Falls intensifies with the introduction of an arcade

Dad's Arcade, a new entertainment venue in Smiths Falls, is set to open its doors this weekend. Owned by Pat Maloney, who is also the proprietor of Bowie's live music venue, this classic video game and pinball arcade is set to bring a unique experience to the town.

Located on Russell Street East, Dad's Arcade promises to transport gamers back in time with its collection of decades-old, original 300-pound cabinets. Titles like "Pac-Man," "Street Fighter II," and "1943: The Battle of Midway" are among the games available for play.

Pat Maloney expressed his excitement about the response from the community, expressing his gratitude for the support and anticipation leading up to the opening. He also mentioned plans to incorporate a bare-bones bar in the future, offering canned beer, cocktails, and wine.

In addition to the gaming experience, Dad's Arcade offers a variety of snacks, including popcorn, hot dogs, and soda. Wristbands can be purchased for 30 minutes, one hour, and two hours of open game play. The base price for admission is $4.50. Instead of quarters, customers at Dad's Arcade need to wear a wristband to play the games.

Children 13 and younger must be accompanied by an adult during the later hours, and the rates drop slightly when the arcade turns into a 19-and-over venue after 8 p.m. Dad's Arcade is the first of its kind in Smiths Falls, with similar venues requiring a 100-kilometer drive.

Gamers have been anticipating the opening of Dad's Arcade since a teaser was posted on Facebook in April. Old Coney Island and Gold Wings pinball machines are available at Dad's Arcade for new high scores. The canteen currently serves soda and juice, but plans for the bar are in the works.

Dad's Arcade provides a home for classic video games and pinball machines, bringing a new entertainment option to Smiths Falls. If you're looking for a neon nostalgic experience, be sure to check it out!
