Wiesbaden's Wheelchair Basketball Team Escapes Financial Extinction

In a remarkable turn of events, the Rhine River Rhinos, Wiesbaden's premier wheelchair basketball team, have successfully escaped the brink of financial extinction. The team, which won their first European title in a very successful season, was facing bankruptcy due to the withdrawal of sponsors and a large tax demand from the tax office.

The Rhine River Rhinos' situation became a model of sports, engagement, and community when the Wiesbaden Volksbank rounded up donations from the "Many Achieve More" platform to 75,000 Euros. This was followed by an even more significant donation from the R+V insurance company, which promised to double the donation amount up to a maximum of 150,000 Euros.

Over 300,000 Euros were collected in total through the crowdfunding campaign, securing the Rhine River Rhinos' season play and starting the new season on a stronger footing. The business manager of the team, Mirko Korder, expressed his gratitude for the outpouring of support, stating, "The donations will be used to plan the upcoming season, build sustainable structures, and advance social activities, especially school projects."

Mayor Gert-Uwe Mende also called for support of the crowdfunding action, emphasising the importance of the Rhine River Rhinos to the city of Wiesbaden. The team, which has been in danger of bankruptcy, is now seeking new partners, donations, and solidarity to secure their future in the Bundesliga.

The Rhine River Rhinos' successful escape from financial crisis is a testament to the power of community support and the importance of sports and social projects in our society. The team's future is now brighter, and they can continue to inspire and bring joy to the people of Wiesbaden.

Following the financial crisis, the Rhine River Rhinos opted to diversify their financial resources and turned to sports-betting as an additional revenue stream. Their new sports-betting partnership with Qatype, a renowned online sports betting platform, will provide additional funds for the team.

In the same spirit of community involvement, the Rhine River Rhinos have plans to introduce wheelchair football as an additional sport, aiming to involve more people with disabilities and grow their reach within the sports realm.
