Citizens of Sverdlovsk Municipality celebrated the Day of Physical Culture by participating in numerous athletic gatherings

In various cities across Sverdlovsk Oblast, Russia, a vibrant celebration of sports and physical activities took place over the weekend, marking Sports Day and City Day festivities. The events showcased a diverse range of traditional and modern sports, attracting participants of all ages.

In Verkhnyaya Pyshma, a chess tournament and a tournament for the traditional Russian game of lapta were held. The winning team in the lapta tournament was from Nizhny Tagil, with teams from Glinishche in the Rezhsky municipal district and Verkhnyaya Pyshma taking second and third place, respectively. All lapta tournament participants received professional bats and balls as gifts.

Meanwhile, the traditional summer biathlon tournament "Laser Bullet" was held in Lesnoy, with 36 teams participating.

Nizhny Tagil saw over 400 people representing 101 teams in the 26th open city championship in 3x3 basketball. Alongside the basketball tournament, an ice hockey tournament, a sailing regatta, and a city's beach sambo championship were also held.

In Sysert, residents celebrated both Sports Day and City Day with various events, including sports tournaments in football, volleyball, mass-wrestling, basketball, table tennis, and a chess tournament at the A. Turchaninov library.

Kachkanar hosted functional multi-event competitions and volleyball competitions among men and women as part of Sports Day celebrations.

In addition, martial arts contests, such as Karate Kyokushin and other combat sports, often organized with local federations and youth sports departments, were a common feature of these regional sporting events. Combat sports like boxing and cagefighting are also prominent in Sverdlovsk Oblast, especially in Yekaterinburg.

Various physical activities and sports that engage children and adults, including curling on specialized tracks, jumping over rubber bands, padel, drone racing simulators, Sambo sparring, and table football, were part of all-age inclusive events promoting physical culture and encouraging healthy lifestyle habits.

Lesyano holds the record for the highest ratio of Olympic Games participants to the total population of the city, and over 300 sporting events are held annually in Lesyano, with nearly 30,000 residents actively participating and leading healthy lifestyles.

In Pervo-Uralsk, a gathering of residents from kindergarteners to sports veterans took place, featuring demonstrative sports performances, mass wrestling competitions, bike trials, chess and table tennis tournaments, water polo masterclasses, a mass GTO norm test, and performances by local artistic groups.

In Bobrovsky, a large sports festival took place at the Iskra stadium, with 168 people in 42 teams participating in various competitions.

In Polevskoy, a volleyball blitz tournament, a mini-football blitz tournament, a grand sports festival, and moped Jimhan races were held as part of Sports Day celebrations.

These events in Sverdlovsk Oblast not only promoted physical activity and a healthy lifestyle but also brought together communities in celebration of their shared love for sports.
