"Cinema Critique: Equivocal Exploration in 'Him'"

In the world of college football, the upcoming movie 'Him' promises to deliver a unique and thought-provoking narrative. Directed by Justin Tipping and produced by Jordan Peele, this horror thriller offers a dark, satirical perspective on the sport.

The story revolves around Cameron 'Cam' Cade, a top draft pick on the cusp of entering the pros. As a boy, Cam idolised college football quarterback Isaiah White, and now, he's been offered a unique opportunity to train with the former star for a week at his Texas desert compound.

However, this training isn't the usual routine one might expect. The atmosphere during the training is surreal, and the editing is hallucinatory, creating a disorienting psychodrama, similar to a football ayahuasca. Pocket-passing drills during the training turn grisly, and Cam is subjected to extremes by Isaiah White, who tests his potential to be the GOAT.

The movie also explores some controversial themes. Cam is injected with unknown serums and blood gets transfused during the training. The events that unfold during the seven-day training period are described as a battle for QB1, but with more primal underpinnings than a typical depth-chart contest.

It's important to note that 'Him' is rated R by the Motion Picture Association for its strong bloody violence, language throughout, sexual material, nudity, and some drug use. The movie seems to evade the larger college football world of arenas, screaming fans, and broadcasters, instead focusing on the intensely personal battle between Cam and Isaiah.

The training adds a new risk to Cam's college football playing. Before the combine, he's struck in the head by a strange pagan spirit-slash-mascot during a night practice. The movie's premise is that this event has a profound impact on Cam, potentially altering his future in the sport.

Isaiah White, whose career was also marked by a highlight-reel play that left him with a career-threatening injury, pushes Cam to his limits. The movie's running time is 96 minutes, and it has received a review of one and a half stars out of four.

'Him' is a horror thriller that offers a fresh take on college football, challenging viewers to question the sport's traditions and the lengths players might go to achieve greatness. The movie is now in theatres, providing college football fans and moviegoers alike with a unique viewing experience.
