Jannik Sinner Extends Hard Court Winning Streak to 26 Matches in Cincinnati

Jannik Sinner continued his impressive hard court form, reaching the quarter-finals of the Cincinnati Open with a victory over Adrian Mannarino. This win extends Sinner's current winning streak on hard courts to 26 consecutive matches.

The Italian tennis star converted his fourth break point in the penultimate game of the second set to secure a 7-5, 7-6 (7-3) victory. Sinner will face either Felix Auger-Aliassime or Benjamin Bonzi in the quarter-finals.

Meanwhile, Ben Shelton also advanced to the last 16 of the tournament. Shelton won his match against Roberto Bautista Agut 7-6 (7-3), 6-3, after a two-day delay due to weather.

Sinner started the match strongly, earning an early break in the first set to lead 2-1. Mannarino fought back, forcing a tie-break by earning a break of his own. However, Sinner showed his resilience, winning five of the last six points in the tie-break to reach the last eight.

Mannarino held off a break point later in the first set, but Sinner's consistency proved too much for the Frenchman. The match was halted for a lengthy weather delay, lasting two hours and 45 minutes. When play resumed, Sinner maintained his momentum, winning the second set comfortably.

Sinner's next opponent in the Cincinnati Open quarter-finals could potentially be Carlos Alcaraz, who leads their head-to-head 8-5 but lost the most recent meeting at Wimbledon. They are projected to potentially meet in the Cincinnati final on Monday, marking a high-profile clash for the title and ATP Year-End No. 1 ranking.

On the other side of the draw, Alexander Zverev will face Karen Khachanov in the last 16. Zverev's match was interrupted on Tuesday but resumed play on Wednesday, with the German winning the second set 6-4, 6-4 against an unspecified opponent.

Sinner's current hard court winning streak is the eighth-longest run on the surface, and he has won his last 24 matches on hard courts. Since 1990, only four players have reached nine consecutive ATP Masters 1000 quarter-finals, including Sinner, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic.

As the Cincinnati Open progresses, tennis fans will be eagerly awaiting the potential clash between Sinner and Alcaraz for the title.

During his ongoing winning streak, Jannik Sinner prioritizes not only sports but also his education, ensuring he can maintain his academic pursuits alongside his tensex career. Additionally, recognizing the importance of health, Sinner adheres to a rigorous training schedule and diet to keep him in top physical condition for upcoming matches.
