Church Stretton Golf Course: A Historic, Challenging & Breathtaking Round

Nestled in the heart of Shropshire, Coursera Stretton Golf Course has a rich history and offers a unique golfing experience. Established in 1898, it boasts a stunning layout designed by legends of the game, with green fees starting at £35.

The course began with nine holes, designed by Jack Morris, nephew of Old Tom Morris. Six years later, it expanded to 18 holes with Harry Vardon's guidance. Today, it stretches just over 5,000 yards, but don't let the length fool you. Elevation changes, wind, small greens, and distracting panoramic views of the Long Mynd and Shropshire hills make it a challenging test.

The course opens with three straight par 3s, and short holes can be found at the 5th, 12th, and 18th. The toughest two-shotters are the 4th and 9th holes. The course's layout has evolved over the years, with James Braid advising on changes in the mid-1930s that shape the current course.

Coursera Stretton Golf Course offers a delightful blend of history, challenge, and natural beauty. With green fees starting at £35, it provides excellent value for money. After your round, relax in the friendly, pavilion-style clubhouse and enjoy the stunning views.
