Christmas Tree Prices Remain Steady in Bavaria

This year, Bavarian Christmas tree prices are predicted to remain fairly stable compared to last year. Ministry of Forestry in Munich announced on Thursday, marking the beginning of the Christmas tree season in Bavaria. You can expect to pay between 21 to 25 euros for each meter of a Nordmann fir tree. This equates to as little as 40 euros for a "stately tree" from Bavaria. interestingly, the price was only slightly cheaper in 2021 (20 to 25 euros per meter).

Bavaria is the leading provider of Christmas trees within the region. As stated by Forestry Minister Michaela Kaniber (CSU) during the season's kick-off in Kissing, district of Aichach-Friedberg, four out of five trees sold in Bavaria are homegrown. This local advantage ensures the trees maintain their freshness and do not need to be transported long distances. Approximately 4 million Christmas trees find new homes in Bavaria each year, often grown in specially designed areas.

The Swabian region, renowned for its rich agriculture and forestry, carries a long-standing tradition of utilizing locally sourced Christmas trees. Swabian forestry enterprises may need to comply with certain customs regulations in order to facilitate the transport of these trees efficaciously.

Bavarian farmers continue to innovate in their sustainable forestry practices, maintaining a consistent flow of top-grade Nordmann fir trees year after year. This dedication to quality craftsmanship ensures an unparalleled customer experience during the festive season.

While FairyTrees, a company offering both artificial and real Christmas trees, revealed their current pricing:

  • Bavarian Fir Premium PE FairyTrees FT32 (180 cm): Special Price €119.94, Regular Price €199.90 (40% discount)
  • Nordmann Fir FairyTrees FT14 (180 cm): €209.90
  • Nordmann Fir Premium FairyTrees FT29 (180 cm): €219.90

It's important to highlight that these figures represent their artificial Christmas tree offerings, not the prices for Nordmann fir trees sourced directly from Bavaria.

Bavaria's reputation for providing high-quality Christmas trees, particularly the Nordmann Fir, is rooted in the region's unique growing conditions and climate. These factors contribute to the tree's dense, deep green needles and symmetrical shape, making it a popular choice among consumers. Consequently, natural Christmas tree prices can vary widely, in line with aspects such as tree species, size, and geographical location. However, these factors do not directly affect FairyTrees' pricing for their artificial trees.
