Christmas is Travel Season: Federal Police of Saxony-Anhalt with Tip for Travelers

The Federal Police in Magdeburg will step up security across Saxony-Anhalt’s rail network over the Christmas holidays. From Christmas Eve onwards, officers will carry out stricter checks on all passengers, commuters and visitors using trains. The move aims to maintain safety and order during the busy travel period.

Increased patrols will cover key stations in Stendal, Halberstadt, Halle (Saale), Dessau-Roßlau and Magdeburg. Officers will monitor platforms, trains and public areas to deter crime and respond quickly to incidents. Crowded stations and distracted travellers often attract pickpockets, so police advise keeping valuables secure and within sight at all times.

Passengers are also reminded to stay well back from platform edges, particularly when trains arrive or depart. Unattended luggage poses serious risks, including theft and delays to services. Authorities urge everyone to act responsibly, ensuring their own safety as well as that of fellow travellers. The Federal Police Inspectorate in Magdeburg has stressed the importance of vigilance during the festive rush. Their presence will be highly visible, with extra staff deployed to handle the seasonal increase in rail traffic.

The enhanced measures will remain in place throughout the holiday period. Police have asked the public to cooperate with officers and follow safety guidelines. In closing, they extended wishes for a joyful, reflective and above all safe Christmas to all residents of Saxony-Anhalt.
