Meet Christian Eriksen, the returning Dane who visited Inter Milan's training grounds to reconnect with his teammates after his harrowing cardiac arrest incident at EURO 2020.
In a heartwarming show of solidarity, Eriksen spent time with the Serie A titans' brass, trainers, and teammates. His effervescence shone through as he showcased exceptional fitness, boasting a fantastic mental and physical condition.
"Christian Eriksen visited Suning's Inter Milan training center, greeted the board, coaches, teammates, and the entire staff. He displayed remarkable performance and exuded positive energy all around," the official statement from Inter reads.
However, Eriksens's return to active duty remains uncertain. He's set to follow a meticulously crafted rehabilitation plan recommended by a Danish physician. This program will also coordinate the necessary clinical follow-ups.
Indulging in a sociable game of football with Inter Milan teammates, Eriksen appears to be trekking a steady path toward recovery. But, the Italian football federation has imposed a ban on him from participating in any matches until his ICD, an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator, is removed or deemed safe for play.
It's unclear if Milan has planned any further medical evaluations for Eriksen. After all, the 29-year-old received the life-saving device after his collapse during Dane's opening match against Finland at EURO 2020.
Meanwhile, his future in Championship football remains uncertain. Will he be able to shed the restrictive confines of ICD in Italy? Or would he need to migrate to a European league with more lenient medical regulations?
