Christa Kummer's final performance titled "Avoid Embellishing Nails with Heels"
Christa Kummer, the first woman to present the weather on Austrian television, is set to present her final broadcast on a Friday evening. After more than three decades of service, the veteran meteorologist is passing the baton to Wera Gruber.
Kummer, who has been a presenter on ZIB since 1995, expressed her gratitude to her audience and the teams behind the camera. She thanked them for their loyalty and support over the years. The broadcast on this special night was filled with a sense of nostalgia, as Kummer reminisced about her time on the popular news programme.
Wera Gruber, a 48-year-old meteorologist from Salzburg, will take over the weather presentation on ZIB. Gruber is a member of the weather teams for 27 years and is well-respected in the field. Her first weather presentation on ZIB will be on October 6.
Gruber will form the moderation team with Marcus Wadsak and Sigi Fink. Tobias Poetzelsberger, the anchor on ZIB, will continue to lead the news programme.
As for Christa Kummer, she promised to continue wearing her high heels, hinting at her continued involvement with the programme, albeit in a different capacity. Susanne Hoeggerl, who also works on ZIB, spoke of a 'little nostalgia' during the broadcast.
The weather during Kummer's final broadcast is promising, with the high-pressure area named 'Oldenburgia' bringing a late summer weekend. As the sun sets on Kummer's tenure, Austrian viewers can look forward to Gruber's fresh take on the weather forecast.
