Chrissie Hynde and k.d. lang collaborate to deliver a smoky rendition of the soul standard "Me and Mrs. Jones"
Chrissie Hynde, the iconic rock musician, is set to release her new album, Duets Special, on October 17 via Parlophone. This album is a collection of covers, featuring an impressive lineup of artists.
The album was born out of a spontaneous and fun project, with Hynde quickly scribbling out 10 songs off the top of her head. One of the tracks includes a cover of Billy Paul's Philly soul classic, Me And Mrs Jones, featuring the talented k.d. lang.
Other artists featured on the album include Mark Lanegan, Lucinda Williams, Dave Gahan, Cat Power, Rufus Wainwright, Carleen Anderson, Brandon Flowers, Julian Lennon, Debbie Harry, Alan Sparhawk, Shirley Manson, and Dan Auerbach. Each artist brings their unique style to the table, creating a diverse and exciting album.
Rufus Wainwright was also involved in the creation of the album. The idea for the project originated from a conversation between Hynde and Wainwright's husband, Jörn, about novels on the phone.
The second song released from the album is Can't Help Falling In Love, a duet with Mark Lanegan. Other tracks include Always on My Mind (feat. Rufus Wainwright), First of the Gang to Die (feat. Cat Power), Dolphins (feat. Dave Gahan), Sway (feat. Lucinda Williams), and Me & Mrs Jones (feat. k.d. lang).
The album promises to be a delight for music lovers, with its blend of classic covers and the unique collaborations between Hynde and the featured artists. So, mark your calendars for October 17, and get ready to enjoy the Duets Special album!
