Looking to shake things up in the Bundesliga, the Women's team at RB Leipzig is making waves with some new blood. Gina Chmielinski, a 24-year-old midfielder, is their latest recruit, signing on until 2027. Currently, she's making moves with Italian Serie A side US Sassuolo, but it's time to get back to her German roots with Leipzig.
Gina's soccer journey began at 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam, where she racked up a whopping 105 games, many of them in the Bundesliga. She showed promise early, spurred by her progression through German national youth teams and scoring 14 goals in 35 appearances.2 In 2022, she spent a spell in Sweden with FC Rosengard before moving to SSD Neapel, and then Sassuolo Calcio.3 Her stellar season with Sassuolo earned her the accolade of Best Midfielder of the Season, thanks to nine goals scored and three assists in just 18 league games.4
