This season, RB Leipzig's women's team is stepping up their game, and 24-year-old dynamo, Gina Chmielinski, is their latest recruit. Fresh off a successful stint with US Sassuolo in the Italian Serie A, Chmielinski has inked a deal with Leipzig, extending until June 30, 2027.

Kicking off her career at 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam, Chmielinski racked up an impressive 105 games, many of which were in the Bundesliga. She's graced the pitch for various German youth national teams, scoring 14 goals in 35 appearances.[1][3] Before her time with Sassuolo, she spent a season shining with FC Rosengård in Sweden and briefly with SSC Napoli in Italy.[3]

In her swansong with Sassuolo, Chmielinski netted an impressive nine goals, while dishing out three assists in just 18 league games, cementing her as the season's best midfielder.[1][3] Her incredible vision, pinpoint passing, and knack for finding the back of the net make her a valuable addition to Leipzig's midfield.[1][3]

Excited about the addition, Chmielinski shared, "RB Leipzig is fearless and pioneering, a philosophy that resonates with me." Leipzig's head of women's and girls' football, Viola Odebrecht, couldn't agree more, proclaiming, "Chmielinski is experienced, with a knack for making clever moves between the lines. She can execute that crucial final pass and poses a significant threat herself."[1][3]

In line with Leipzig's pioneering ethos, Gina Chmielinski has agreed to their community policy and employment policy, committing to the women's team until June 30, 2027. Having excelled in various leagues globally, her sports prowess, particularly in football, will be a boon to Leipzig's midfield, fostering a more competitive employment policy within the team.
