In a significant development, Zhang Jianwei, the new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to the Kingdom of Thailand, has arrived in Bangkok.

This year, the relationship celebrates its "Golden Jubilee," marking the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two nations.
Upon his arrival, Zhang Jianwei expressed his resolve to fulfill his duties and responsibilities wholeheartedly while serving at his post in Thailand. He emphasized the close and time-honoured friendship between China and Thailand, describing them as "brothers and sisters" and good neighbours who have supported each other through challenges.
Zhang Jianwei also highlighted China's efforts to rejuvenate the nation through modernization and Thailand's efforts to upgrade its economic structure for sustainable growth. He stated that China is endeavouring to become a stronger country and is committed to rejuvenating the Chinese nation on all fronts.
Pensom Lertsithichai, the deputy director-general of the Department of East Asian Affairs under the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs, welcomed Zhang Jianwei to his new post and expressed Thailand's importance in the relationship with China. He noted that Thailand values the close ties with China and looks forward to further strengthening the relationship.
Zhang Jianwei's wife, Miao Haiyan, accompanied him on his journey. The Chinese Embassy in Thailand was present at Zhang Jianwei's arrival, signalling the start of a new chapter in the China-Thailand relationship.
