Kids Explore Creativity at Maischberger's Initiative

Berlin - Known for engaging influential figures in politics and business, host Sandra Maischberger (57) also dedicates her spare time to empowering young minds.

Curiosity and desire to learn are innate in children. However, not every child is privileged with the resources to explore these interests at home. This is where the non-profit organization "Vincentino - Boosting Kids' Culture in Berlin" steps in, spearheaded by Sandra Maischberger herself. The organization introduces DIY culture into Berlin's schools.

Building Their Own Instruments

Visiting the Adolf Reichwein School, a special venue in Berlin-Neukölln, Maischberger admires the children's handmade instruments in the workshop, sparking with pride.

"Established in 2008, our mission was to introduce cultural education to schools," explains Maischberger. "Especially for children from families with limited funds or resources. It's incredible to see these pupils flourish. Their joy and zest for life are perpetually inspiring."

Passionate dedication: artist Matthias Schelleberger, Sandra Maischberger, principal Annett Winkler, and Ulla Giesler, Vincentino coordinator

In the workshop, children develop their own musical instruments, film their creation process, and learn to play them. By incorporating crafting, filmmaking, and music, children learn tactfully in a fun and engaging manner.

Encouragement Over Judgment

Activity in eight Berlin schools annually, engaging more than 500 pupils - Vincentino does not aim to create transient programs. Rather, the organization works with schools for long-term collaborations, assisting children for years and forming an integral part of their lives.

"We don't desire a fleeting program that fades after a year," Maischberger says. "Consistency is crucial for children. Our objective is to deliver lasting impact, fostering a sense of commitment and continuity."

The Vincentino team's vision is to improve children's lives positively and challenge stereotypes by showcasing their extraordinary abilities. Maischberger remarks, "Society tends to label our children as problematic cases. Vincentino highlights that this label is irrelevant. No child should be marginalized. Witnessing our talented children perform at the opera or at political events frequently leaves people astonished. However, we hold that they belong in the heart of society due to their limitless potential."
