Children launch the 72nd Annual City Parks Council Competition in Dusseldorf, Germany, with nearly 400 participants.

In the heart of Düsseldorf, Germany, the 72nd edition of the Alde Duesseldorfer bike-swinging tournament is set to take place on Sunday, June 29th, at the lower Rhine embankment. This traditional and regional sport, known as Fahrradschwingen or Radschwingen, is celebrated for its ability to promote community engagement and integration.

This year, children from twelve different nations are participating, showcasing their skills in the art of bike-swinging, which allows only one hand or foot to touch the ground at a time. The tournament is organized by the Alde Duesseldorfer civic society and is popular among children.

Competitors are divided into various categories, including the Girls A (8-10 years) category, with participants Amelie Berlin, Emilia Feder, and Valentina Giraldo Aguado, and the Girls B (11-12 years) category, with Nene Yokoi, Ella Multrack, and Dana Heinke. The Boys A (8-10 years) category includes Kazuma Ohashi, Sho Takahashi, and Shoma Nagamura, while the Boys B (11-12 years) category features competitors from around the world, with one name yet to be identified.

In addition to the individual competitions, participants are also vying for traveling trophies. The Montessori Grundschule Lindenstraße is defending their title from last year. Notable attendees include Baas Rolf Lenz, Stadtdirektor Burkhard Hintzsche, Stadtsparkassenvorstand Michael Roettgen, and moderator Thomas Perlick.

Photos from the tournament can be found on the website, taken by Karina Hermsen. Winners of the tournament will receive an invitation to the town hall in September. The Style Competition, featuring Grace Edwards, Anita Ikebonur, and Anisa Dashlani, adds an extra layer of excitement to the event.

While the specific details of the 72nd edition's results and the role of integration in this year's tournament are not yet available, the bike-swinging tournament continues to embody the spirit of community, cultural exchange, and celebration in Düsseldorf.

In the midst of the excitement, children from different nations, including Amelie Berlin, Emilia Feder, and Valentina Giraldo Aguado in the Girls A category, are showcasing their bike-swinging skills. Furthermore, the Boys A category boasts competitors such as Kazuma Ohashi, Sho Takahashi, and Shoma Nagamura, all taking part in this year's sports event in Düsseldorf.
