Children frolicking in the Old Forest, performing dances for the German national team.
In the picturesque town of Eißendorf, excitement is in the air as the German national football team prepares to take the field. On Friday, the school Grundschule In der Alten Forst added to the anticipation with a special performance – the Euro-Tanz.
A tradition dating back to 2006, the Euro-Tanz was created by teachers Karolina Freitag and Sandra Dietz. This year, over 650 students from kindergarten to 4th grade participated in the dance, bringing together a vibrant display of unity and diversity.
The schoolyard was transformed into a sea of black, red, and yellow, with over 100 meters of garlands adorning the space. To add to the festive atmosphere, 32 flagpoles with the flags of all participating teams stood tall, symbolising the international spirit of the tournament.
School principal Andreas Wiedemann expressed his excitement, stating, "We are ready for the summer fairy tale to begin." He added, "It's great that so many enthusiastic people contribute ideas to celebrate together and have fun."
To further energise the young dancers, a video message from former football pro Marcell Jansen warmed them up before the performance. The children danced with joy and enthusiasm, their movements a testament to their excitement for the game.
The Euro-Tanz performance was in support of the German national football team during their match against Scotland. The opening match of the German team was a resounding success, with a 5-1 victory.
As the dance came to an end, the school was bathed in the soft glow of a "Blue Goal", reminding residents of the magical summer fairy tale from 2006 when the school participated in an art action for the 2006 World Cup.
With the Euro-Tanz performance, Grundschule In der Alten Forst has once again demonstrated its commitment to celebrating the spirit of the game and fostering a love for football among its students. As the Euro 2020 tournament continues, the town of Eißendorf will undoubtedly remain a hotbed of football fever.
