Grundschule In der Alten Forst, Eissendorf, Kicks Off Exciting European Championship Dance Tradition

The small town of Eissendorf is buzzing with excitement as the Grundschule In der Alten Forst prepares for its annual European Championship (EM) dance tradition. This community and cultural event, now a staple in the school's extracurricular programs, promises a festive and physically active celebration.

A Rich History

The EM dance tradition at Grundschule In der Alten Forst began several years ago as a way to engage students in a joyous and energetic celebration. Initially, a group of passionate teachers and parents started the tradition, which has since grown to be a much-anticipated event for students every year. The dance reflects the school's commitment to promoting teamwork, cultural enrichment, and physical education beyond the confines of the classroom.

Creative Collaboration

The dance tradition was primarily initiated and choreographed by a dedicated team of staff members, including physical education teachers and music instructors. Over time, parent volunteers, local dance enthusiasts, and even the students themselves have contributed creatively by suggesting dance moves, helping with costumes, and decorating the school.

Participation and Preparation

The dance involves students from all grade levels, with participation being voluntary but highly encouraged. Rehearsals are held once or twice a week leading up to the event, and the performance takes place in front of fellow students, parents, and local community members, fostering a strong sense of pride and community spirit. The music and costumes are selected collaboratively, with European-themed songs often featured.

Celebrating Together

This year, the EM dance was warmed up by a video message from former football professional Marcell Jansen. The "Blue Goal" will shine over Eissendorf, reminding everyone of the summer fairy tale of 2006 when the school participated in Michael Batz's art action for the 2006 World Cup. In support of the German national team, the children will perform the EM dance together for every game, with the first performance taking place on the schoolyard to cheer on the team against Scotland.

For over 100 meters, garlands with black, red, and yellow ribbons have been stretched across the schoolyard, and the school is decorated for the occasion. The opening match was won clearly 5:1, and school principal Andreas Wiedemann stated that they are ready for the summer fairy tale. With 650 students from Grundschule In der Alten Forst performing the EM dance on Friday, the tradition continues to unite students, teachers, and the local community in a celebration of team spirit, cultural diversity, and the joy of dance.
