Ever since its Netflix debut in March 2025, "Adolescence" has garnered plenty of attention – and now it's bagging awards left and right. At the Gotham TV Awards on June 2, 2025, this British series snatched up three out of four coveted awards.

The lascivious jury crowned "Adolescence" the best miniseries. Stephen Graham, whose credits include "Boardwalk Empire" and "This Is England", nabbed the award for best lead role in a miniseries. Graham, who also co-wrote "Adolescence", plunges into the role of the distraught father of a 13-year-old boy implicated in the grisly murder of a classmate.

"Adolescence" Scores a Hat Trick

The young murderer's portrayer also took home a Gotham Award. Owen Cooper and Jenny Slate from "Dying for Sex" shared the award for best supporting role. Erin Doherty, who plays a psychologist in episode three, was out of luck – she was nominated but couldn't clinch the win.

Held for the second year running, the Gotham TV Awards stood in for their bigger and more famous counterparts, the Gotham Awards, which have been doling out awards since 1991. Initially, the jury recognized both films and TV formats, but in 2024, the organizers split off series and documentaries from TV broadcasters and streaming services.

Unlike other prestigious TV awards like the Emmys or Golden Globes, the Gotham TV Awards only celebrate new productions. "The Studio," a comedy series created by and starring Seth Rogen, received the award for best comedy series. In the drama category, "The Pitt," a medical drama about a hospital, stole the spotlight.

I'm not gonna let this "Adolescence" series go without sharing my thoughts. It's a captivating drama, especially the performances in this Netflix production, which was recently recognized at the Gotham TV Awards in the 'movies-and-tv' category. Stephen Graham, known for his roles in shows like "Boardwalk Empire" and "This Is England", was applauded for his gripping portrayal in the series.
