A former kindergarten teacher in Chelyabinsk, Russia, Viktor Elysiyev, is standing trial for allegations of child abuse, following the installation of a camera in the kindergarten room that revealed instances of physical abuse.
The investigation found that Elysiyev regularly treated seven children, aged around two, roughly from January 9 to April 8, 2025. The footage showed the children being beaten, dragged by their arms, locked in the sleeping room, and threatened.
The criminal case against Elysiyev was approved by the Chelyabinsk region prosecutor's office and has now been sent to the Traktornyi District Court of Chelyabinsk for trial. The trial is set to take place at the same court following allegations of child abuse.
Incidents of abuse were first reported by parents of children attending kindergarten No. 251 in April 2025. They noticed bruises on their children's bodies and observed that the children were reluctant to go to kindergarten, crying every morning.
