Chicago’s BMOA delivers 600 turkeys to families in need before Thanksgiving
Hundreds of people, many relying on SNAP benefits and affected by the government shutdown, braved cold weather to receive food for Thanksgiving. The Black McDonald's Operators Association (BMOA) hosted its annual 'Food for the Body and Spirit' mission, distributing 600 turkeys and other items in just 45 minutes. Local veterans were among the first to be served as a token of gratitude.
The BMOA, founded over 40 years ago, has been organizing this event for 25 years. This year's giveaway, held at the McDonald's at 1637 West 95th Street, saw recipients also receiving gift cards, baked goods, hats, and gloves alongside their turkeys. The next giveaway is scheduled for Thursday at 8 a.m. at the same location. Details about the event and future giveaways can be found at bmoachicagoland.org.
The 'Food for the Body and Spirit' mission, a testament to the BMOA's commitment to community service, ensured that hundreds of families had a turkey for their Thanksgiving meal. The event also provided other essentials to help recipients celebrate the holiday in warmth and comfort.
