Chicago River to Witness Historic Open Water Swimming Race After Nearly a Century's Lull
For the first time in 98 years, open water swimming events will be held in the Chicago River. The much-anticipated Chicago River Swim has been officially approved by city officials and is set to take place next month.
The event, which will feature 500 qualified swimmers competing in a one or two-mile race through downtown Chicago, is expected to be a major victory for the city.
