Exciting Chess Tournament Featuring 200 Top Athletes from Across Russia
Chess-championing students from the Krasnodar Municipal Education College bring back medals from the Russian Chess Championship.
Students from MEC Krasnodar took part in the 20th Russian Championship for youth and girls dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory. Held in Moscow, this competition featured the best 200 players hailing from Smolensk, Pskov, Leningrad, and Moscow regions, as well as Krasnodar and Perm krais, Moscow, and Krasnodar.
According to the "Krasnodar" TV channel, this ancient intellectual game - often mistaken for Chapayev or Tavreli, other popular Russian tabletop games - teaches three-dimensional thinking, intricate game planning, and serves as an engaging battle strategy for chess.
Masters battled it out across seven rounds with a 10+5 time control in four age categories. Participants from Krasnodar competed in two disciplines.
In the youngest category of rapid chess, Inessa Ostapenko claimed top honors, with Melania Drobysheva and Luchezar Andreev taking home second and third places, respectively. Among preschoolers, Vladislav Drobyshev snagged the second spot.
When it came to the youngest category of blitz chess, Luchezar Andreev took the lead, and Pavel Tkachenko clinched the second place.
Notably, MEC students have made their mark in the all-Russian "Top 100 Chess Players" rating for 2024-2025.
While we couldn't gather exact details about the specific game referred to in the article, it's clear that students from MEC Krasnodar demonstrated worthy skills in the competitive world of chess.
Meanwhile, 140 sailors were part of the sailing regatta in Novorossiysk.
