Chenoweth speaks out in defense following backlash over her memorial post for Kirk amidst controversy within the LGBTQ+ community.
Kristin Chenoweth Grieves the Death of Charlie Kirk and Prepares for Broadway Return
Kristin Chenoweth, the acclaimed actress and singer, is preparing for a double milestone. She is set to welcome a new baby and showcase her Broadway musical 'The Queen of Versailles', while also promoting her upcoming musical The Queen of Versailles. The show begins previews on October 8 and opens on November 9 at the St. James Theatre in Midtown Manhattan.
In a recent turn of events, Chenoweth has found herself at the centre of a controversy. She was accused of being a far-right Republican by her outraged fans in the LGBTQIA community following a comment she made. However, she has since apologized for any hurt caused by her initial comment.
The controversy arose after the death of Charlie Kirk, a right-wing political activist. Kirk was shot and killed while speaking at Utah Valley University during his American Comeback Tour. The suspected gunman, Tyler James Robinson, is currently being held without bond in the Special Housing Unit of Utah County Jail in Spanish Fork, UT. Robinson faces the death penalty if found guilty of murder, felony discharge of a firearm, two counts of obstruction/witness tampering, and violence committed in the presence of a child.
Chenoweth publicly grieved the death of Kirk, expressing her sadness over his passing and praying for his family on Instagram. Despite the controversy, she remains focused on her upcoming projects.
In addition to her Broadway roles, Chenoweth will portray junior college cheerleading coach Tammy Istiny in Jeff Astrof and Liz Astrof's single-camera mockumentary comedy 'Stumble', which premieres November 7 on NBC. Chenoweth also has paid partnerships with brands like Nom Nom, Olipop, Swarvoski, and Laura Geller Beauty.
Meanwhile, the memorial service for Charlie Kirk is scheduled for this Sunday at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, AZ. The 31-year-old Turning Point USA co-founder was challenging college students to debate him during the event when the tragic incident occurred.
As Chenoweth navigates this challenging time, she continues to maintain a strong presence in the entertainment industry. Her fans eagerly anticipate her upcoming roles and the birth of her baby, while hoping for a resolution in the tragic case of Charlie Kirk's murder.
