Chemnitz - This move left us stunned! Following an impressive season with the Saxons, wingman Nicholas Tischler (24) has jumped ship, joining forces with contenders EWE Baskets Oldenburg.
Last year, Tischler joined the Niners from Braunschweig and had initially signed on until the summer of 2026. Recently, he opted to prematurely terminate his contract and inked a new deal in Oldenburg on Monday.
"Nicho is a top-notch young talent who consistently gave his all and produced highlight-worthy moments. We wish him continued success in his career, and we look forward to welcoming him back to the Chemnitz Arena next season," affirmed Niners managing director Steffen Herold (46).
Tischler found his way to Chemnitz from Basketball Löwen Braunschweig last year. He made every competitive game of the "Orange Army" last season, emerging as the sole scorer alongside Olivier Nkamhoua.
Captain Richter's emotional response: "All my love to the fans!"
Averaging 5.2 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 0.9 assists per game in an average of 16 minutes of court time, Tischler ensured he was a consistent force for the team. Furthermore, he demonstrated exceptional accuracy from the free-throw line, successful in nearly 88% of attempts.
On-court highlights include some memorable dunks, and one basket that will long be remembered - the "Alley Oop" in the final seconds against Rostock, securing a place in overtime and ultimately a spot for Chemnitz in the playoffs.
Tischler expressed his thoughts on leaving in the Niners' announcement, sharing: "Dear Niners Family, after a year filled with intense moments, education, and strong camaraderie, it's time for me to embark on a new journey. Letting go isn't easy, given the wonderful memories I made in Chemnitz."
The first Niners reinforcements are on board! Where does Kevin Yebo stand?
A native of Bamberg and brother to another Bundesliga player, Brandon, Tischler expressed gratitude to his teammates, coaching staff, the entire organization, "and of course you, the incredible fans. You supported me from the beginning and transformed this experience into something truly exceptional. I carry these valuable experiences with me, and I wish the team and the entire club only the best for the future."
