Chemnitz Niners Kick off FIBA Europe Cup in Style

The Chemnitz Niners made a thunderous debut in the intermediate round of the FIBA Europe Cup, obliterating Italian first-division club Itelyum Varese with a 109-85 victory at home. Head Coach Rodrigo Pastore's squad continued its impressive run, notching up their 17th consecutive triumph in all competitions.

Six Niners players recorded double-digit scores: Kevin Yebo (27 points), Jeffery Garrett (20), Ousman Krubally (14), DeAndre Lansdowne (13), Wesley van Beck (12), and Aher Uguak (11). Conversely, Olivier Hanlan (28), Tomas Woldetensae (15), Vincent Shahid, and Gabe Brown (13 each) led the scoring charge for Varese.

The Niners gained early momentum, setting the tone with a formidable 20-point advantage (46:25) in the first quarter. However, Varese managed a comeback, narrowing the gap to 74:82 midway through the third quarter. The home team responded with another exhilarating surge, making it 92:75 towards the end of the quarter, sealing an emphatic victory.

The Niners' domination was evident in their aggressive rebounding play, amassing 46 rebounds to Varese's 28.

Looking ahead, the Niners will aim to carry this momentum into their upcoming games, vying for further success in the FIBA Europe Cup.
