Opalenica (Poland) - Despite the loss, Chemie Leipzig put up a "valiant effort" against FC Banik Ostrava, who finished third in the Czech First League last season and qualified for the Europa League.

A cheering crowd of 200 traveling Leipzig fans bore witness to the team's spirited battle, with the Czech team taking an early lead just five minutes into the match. Quickly putting two more goals past the Leipzig defense within the next 15 minutes, it looked like the day might not be in Chemie's favor. Yet, the resilient Germans refused to give up. Maxim Langner capitalized on a scoring opportunity in the 33rd minute, followed by a quick response from Stanley Ratifo just five minutes later, making the score a more respectable 2:2.

Unfortunately, the Czech team snatched the lead back shortly after halftime, securing a 2:4 victory. The match was played to the bitter end by both teams.

BSG Coach Adrian Alipour would have preferred a win but saw some silver linings. "The mistakes leading to the goals were defensible, as we can easily fix them. It was a good test for my players," he commented.

In a setback for Chemie Leipzig, Lorenz Hollenbach, who joined the team in May, had to leave the game in the 10th minute due to a facial injury.

The team's next friendly match will be against FC Eilenburg at Sportzentrum Mühlberg/Elbe on July 5th at 3 PM, followed by a July 12th match against FC Grimma at Husaren-Sportpark Grimma.
