Chelsea Secure Dutch Defender Jorrel Hato from Ajax
Chelsea Football Club has bolstered its defence with the signing of highly-rated Dutch defender Jorrel Hato from Ajax. The 19-year-old has put pen to paper on a seven-year deal, keeping him at Stamford Bridge until 2032.
Hato, who can operate as a left-back or centre-back, joins the Blues after making over 100 appearances for Ajax and gaining experience with the Netherlands national team. The transfer fee is reported to be around €46.5 million ($53 million), excluding bonuses.
Speaking about his move, Hato expressed his excitement about taking the next step in his career at Chelsea. "I'm thrilled to be joining Chelsea and can't wait to get started," he said. "I've always admired the club and its history, and I'm looking forward to helping the team achieve success."
Meanwhile, Chelsea is also close to securing the signing of RB Leipzig midfielder Xavi Simons. Negotiations are ongoing, with the deal yet to be finalized.
Elsewhere, Burnley is optimistic that the deal for Armando Broja will be finalized by early next week. The striker has had multiple loan spells at Southampton, Vitesse, Fulham, and Everton. Burnley is in advanced talks with Chelsea to sign Broja in a permanent deal worth around £20 million.
In other transfer news, Manchester United will debut new signing Bryan Mbeumo against Everton in Atlanta this Sunday. Mbeumo was part of United's £130m summer splash.
At Newcastle United, the future of Alexander Isak remains uncertain after Liverpool made a £110 million bid, which was rejected. Isak is currently nursing a thigh issue and was spotted training alone at his former club Real Sociedad. Newcastle values Isak at £150 million.
Callum Wilson, a former regular England international, will link up with Graham Potter's side for the upcoming season. However, Wilson has agreed to a 12-month contract with West Ham United after being released by Newcastle.
Finally, Emeka Anachunam has joined Zulte Waregem on a season-long loan from Inspire Sports Academy. Zulte Waregem has the option to make the move for Anachunam permanent next summer.
