Chelsea encounters a twin setback as Kane scores twice for Bayern in the Champions League, leading to their defeat.

In a thrilling encounter between two European heavyweights, Bayern Munich faced Chelsea in the Champions League. The match was a rollercoaster ride, filled with moments of brilliance and mistakes.

Bayern's captain, Manuel Neuer, made history as he secured his 100th win in the Champions League, putting him one win behind footballing legends like Cristiano Ronaldo, Thomas Mueller, and Iker Casillas. However, the celebrations were short-lived as Bayern suffered their first Champions League opener loss since 2002 against Deportivo La Coruna.

England captain Harry Kane was the architect of Chelsea's comeback, scoring two goals and converting a penalty. His first goal came after Moises Caicedo gave away a penalty, leading to Kane scoring from the spot. Kane's second goal was a result of exploiting a poor Malo Gusto pass.

Chelsea's intensity early in the match caught Bayern off guard. This was evident when Michael Olise pressured Trevoh Chalobah into an own goal, giving Chelsea a brief lead. Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca, who restored Palmer and three others to the starting line-up after criticism, would have been pleased with his side's performance.

Cole Palmer, who finished off a team counter-attack to bring Chelsea back into the game just two minutes later, was a standout player for the London club. His quick thinking and precision helped Chelsea to level the scores.

Vincent Kompany, Bayern's coach, praised Kane's hard work as a key factor in his success. Kane, in turn, expressed his satisfaction with the performance, calling it a top one against a good side. He also admitted that facing Premier League sides motivates him to 'play better'.

In a surprising turn of events, Nicolas Jackson, Chelsea loanee and former Bayern Munich youth player, made his Champions League debut against his parent club. Jackson's debut, however, did not end in the way he would have hoped, as Bayern went on to secure the victory.

Kane was taken off to a standing ovation in stoppage time, marking the end of an exciting encounter between two top European clubs. Bayern will look to bounce back in their next Champions League match, while Chelsea will aim to build on this performance.
