Chelsea and West Ham fined £625k after violent Premier League brawl at Stamford Bridge
Chelsea and West Ham have been fined a combined £625,000 after a violent brawl broke out during their Premier League clash. The incident happened in stoppage time at Stamford Bridge on January 31, 2026. Both clubs accepted the disciplinary charges without appeal.
The trouble began when West Ham midfielder Adam Traoré lunged at Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella. This sparked a mass confrontation involving players from both sides. Jean-Clair Todibo was later sent off for grabbing João Pedro by the throat.
The match, which ended 3-2 to Chelsea, was the second meeting between the sides this season. Chelsea had previously won 5-1 at West Ham in August. After 24 games, Chelsea sit fifth in the table with 45 points, while West Ham remain in the relegation zone in 18th place, five points from safety.
Neither club challenged the Football Association's ruling. The disciplinary committee imposed fines of £325,000 on Chelsea and £300,000 on West Ham for failing to control their players.
The fines come as both teams focus on their remaining league fixtures. Chelsea aim to secure European qualification, while West Ham fight to avoid relegation. The FA's decision closes the disciplinary case, with no further action expected.
