Tobias Krell, better known as Checker Tobi, has become a household name for children today—much like Peter Lustig was for their parents. His third film, Checker Tobi 3: The Secret Ruler of Earth, is set to hit cinemas on January 8, 2026, promising another adventure packed with curiosity and discovery.
The new film follows Checker Tobi as he investigates a big question: Who—or what—is the mysterious ruler of Earth? Guided by the spirit of his eight-year-old self, he travels alone to remote locations, from the icy landscapes of Svalbard to the forests of Madagascar. Along the way, he meets local experts who help him explore the film’s central theme: soil and its vital role in our planet’s future.
The journey climaxes atop a Maya pyramid in Mexico, where the answer to the film’s puzzle is finally revealed. As with previous instalments, the story blends entertainment with education, tackling real-world issues like environmental crises and climate action. Director Antonia Simm ensures the film stays true to the series’ signature style—fun, fact-filled, and full of wonder. A fourth film is already planned for 2027, shifting focus to the element of fire. Checkerina Marina will take on a larger role, though no director has been announced yet.
