Check Your Voting Registration in Texas: Could Your Name Be Among the 1.1 Million Removed?
Voting in Texas: Check Your Voter Registration Status Now
In the rapidly approaching 2024 elections, it's crucial for every Texan to ensure their voting rights aren't taken away due to a simple oversight. Texas eliminated over a million voters from its rolls, equating to the population of Montana. Don't be a statistic! Verify your voter status right now - it's easier than mindlessly scrolling through social media. Click HERE to check if you're registered. If you find yourself missing from the rolls, the deadline to register is October 7th, and it's as simple as mailing or hand-delivering an application to the Registrar Office.
Why might I be removed from the rolls if I didn't move?
Removals in Texas weren't solely based on relocation; over half were due to address concerns, while 6,500 registrants failed to respond to a Notice of Examination. If your voter card was returned as non-deliverable, you were placed on the Suspend List. If any mail was returned as non-deliverable or you filled out a forwarding form, you were put on the suspense list. After two federal general elections, if you're on the suspense list, you'll be dropped. Failure to respond to a Notice of Examination regarding your citizenship status, criminal background, age, or court ruling on your mental capacity to vote can also lead to removal.
What if I discover I'm not registered to vote?
Don't panic - there's still time to register for the upcoming November elections! Unfortunately, Texas currently does not offer online registration, so you'll need to apply by mail or visit the Registrar Office in person. The registration deadline is October 7th. If you need help obtaining an application, visit the Harris County Public Library, call or email the Registrar Office, or request a form by mail.
