We caught up with him to chat about his Deltin Royale experience and more.

So, Abhishek, congratulations on your victory at DPT XPress 2025! How was your the deltin royal experience?

I'm pretty familiar with Deltin Royale, but the setup with Adda52 made everything smooth as silk – logins, attending events, and cashouts were a breeze.

What's been your poker journey like in 2025?

I attended Poker Dream 15 last month, and I was about to brick that tournament. I lost way too much money. I didn't even intend to join DPT XPress 2025, but at the last minute, I thought, "Why not give it a shot for 3 days?" I busted out of the Mystery Bounty within the first 30 minutes. But on Day 2, I scooped the trophy.

Spill the beans on your tournament adventure at XPress 2025.

I came for just 3 days. At the end of registration, when no more players could join, I won because of a triple-up. I held Kings, another player had Ace Queen, and someone else had Aces. I've never had Kings crack Aces, but on the river, I drew a King. That lucky double-up at the right time boosted my chip stack, putting me in better shape for Day 2 and, eventually, the Final Table.

Tell us about the competition at Deltin XPress 2025.

The tournament was stacked with some phenomenal players, such as Chirag Sodha. Thankfully, he was short-stacked and couldn't play many hands. Gopal Bajaj gave me a run for my money; he's been grinding online poker, but it was his third or fourth time playing live. I'm glad I busted him out in his third tournament.

The heads-up was manageable. I went up against a player named Tejas, and it was a walk in the park since I understand cash game dynamics.

Where are your poker travels taking you next?

I'll be jetting off to Poker Dream in Malaysia in April.

Bankroll management advice for aspiring poker players?

Managing your bankroll carefully is crucial, whether you're a pro or an amateur. If you're banking on your winnings alone, opt for lower buy-ins, play within your limits, and avoid over-investing.

Remember, live poker can be cruel. If you show up with a ₹5 Lakh bankroll, I'd wave goodbye to it. In fact, knowing my style of play, I might need more. Bring it on! If you believe you can double your earnings, don't underestimate the risks.

Who would be your dream heads-up opponent?

Without a doubt, I'd love to take on Phil Ivey in a heads-up match. He's a poker veteran, has a mysterious aura, and doesn't talk much. So, locking horns with him would be an intense experience I'd relish.

What's the one poker achievement you're dying to score?

Of course, the WSOP Main Event bracelet is on my bucket list, but that's down the line. Right now, I'd give my all to win the Mike Sexton Championship Cup – the WPT Championship Cup. I wouldn't mind adding that trophy to my collection someday.
