Charlie Woods Recovers from US Junior Amateur Setback, Achieving an Under-Par Score at the Junior PGA Championship

In the ongoing Junior PGA Championships, Charlie Woods, the son of golfing legend Tiger Woods, is currently in a share of 46th place. The tournament, one of golf's Major championships for juniors, is being held at Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex's Ackerman-Allen and Kampen-Cosler courses.

Woods started the third round six shots behind the leader, Chase Yenser, who set the pace with a seven-under blemish-free round of 64. Raghav Gulati is in second place, two shots behind Yenser.

Despite starting the final round tied for second at 12 under, Woods struggled and finished with a 3-over 74. This score left him 9 under par for the tournament, 11 shots outside of the three-over cutline. Lunden Esterline emerged as the winner, scoring 19 under.

Interestingly, Woods opted to tee it up at the Junior PGA Championships instead of the South Florida PGA Junior Cup, a tournament he won last year. His performance at the Junior PGA Championships, while commendable, fell short of victory on a more competitive national stage, highlighting the increased level of competition compared to the regional South Florida PGA Junior Cup.

Nonetheless, Woods' participation in the Junior PGA Championships showcases his commitment to competing at the highest level of junior golf. As the Junior Ryder Cup approaches in September, the winner and runner-up of the Junior PGA Championships will secure a spot on the team.
