Charlie McAvoy undergoes facial surgery after brutal slap shot injury

Boston Bruins defenseman Charlie McAvoy underwent surgery on Wednesday to repair facial injuries. The operation follows an incident during Saturday’s game against Montreal, where he was struck in the mouth by a slap shot. The team's recovery timeline remains unclear, but they have confirmed he will miss games indefinitely.

The injury occurred when McAvoy took a slap shot from Noah Dobson directly to the face. The impact forced him out of the match and led to this week’s medical procedure. Bruins coach Marco Sturm later confirmed that the 26-year-old is now recovering at home and in good spirits.

The Bruins will need to adjust without one of their top defenders for the foreseeable future. McAvoy’s progress will be monitored closely as he recovers from surgery. The team has not set a return date, leaving his status open-ended for now.
