King Charles Honors Air-India Crash Victims at Trooping the Colour
Monarch Charles to Pay Tribute to Air-India Tragedy Victims - Charles III to Pay Tribute to Air India Tragedy Victims
This year's Trooping the Colour, a traditional military ceremony marking King Charles III's birthday, will be a solemn event. The monarch will pay tribute to the victims of the Air-India crash by wearing a black armband on his military uniform, a gesture he'll share with Prince William.
According to reports from reputable sources like People magazine, the staff of the Royal Mews participating in the procession, as well as the mounted officers, will also sport black armbands. After inspecting the troops on Horse Guards Parade, King Charles will take his place on the podium. A minute of silence will then be observed, honoring the fallen—initiated by the somber sound of "The Last Post."
The Buckingham Palace spokesperson told People that the changes were made "with deepest respect for the lives lost, the grieving families, and all communities affected by this tragic tragedy."
The Tragic Crash: London Bound
Just days ago, an Air India flight en route to London Gatwick suffered a devastating crash in Ahmedabad, claiming the lives of 241 passengers and crew members. A British survivor was miraculously found.
King Charles and Queen Camilla expressed their condolences online, stating, "We are deeply shocked by this terrible incident in Ahmedabad."
Mourning in the Past: A Grenfell Tower Remembrance
It's worth noting that the Trooping the Colour event has faced mourning before. In 2017, when the parade honored the late Queen Elizabeth II, a minute of silence was held for the victims of the Grenfell Tower fire, which had occurred three days prior.
