According to a spokesperson for Buckingham Palace, these changes were made "as a mark of respect for the lives lost, the grieving families, and all communities impacted by this unimaginable tragedy."

On a fateful Thursday, 241 passengers and crew members aboard an Air India aircraft destined for London Gatwick met with a devastating end. United in their final moments, they lost their lives shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad. A lone British national survived the catastrophe.

King Charles III and the Queen Camilla (77) shared their condolences through an Instagram post: "Our hearts are heavy with shock as we grapple with the horrific events that unfolded in Ahmedabad today," their statement read. "We extend our deepest sympathies to the bereaved families, friends, and communities affected by this unfathomable tragedy."

This isn't the first time that Trooping the Colour has been transformed into a place of grief. Just five years ago, the parade was dedicated to the memory of the victims of the Grenfell Tower fire, observed only three days prior.
