Charges Filed: Alleged Bullet-Bomb Attack

In the heart of Berlin-Neukölln, a chilling incident unfolded on New Year's Eve when a man, suspected of carrying out an attack using a "ball bomb", targeted a local businessman. The explosive device, known as a "ball bomb", caused significant damage to the man's men's clothing store and three storefront windows of another of his businesses on Karl-Marx-Straße, amounting to around 30,000 euros.

The 36-year-old suspect, who allegedly carried out the attack, was arrested in March and has been in custody since. His wife, who is said to have worked at the store where the explosive device detonated, is reported to be separated from him, according to a statement.

The suspect is believed to have initially threatened the businessman in November 2024, stating that he would "take him out". The threat unfortunately materialised with the ball bomb attack on New Year's Eve.

In a separate incident, the 51-year-old and the 35-year-old, who are also involved in the case, were charged alongside the man. The 51-year-old and the 35-year-old are alleged to have attempted to break into the businessman's apartment in October, but they are not mentioned as having any direct involvement in the store attack.

The current whereabouts of the 35-year-old suspect are unknown. A recent development in the case was the search conducted by Berlin police in three apartments located in Schöneberg and Wilmersdorf on July 29, 2025. However, the search results have not yet been made public, and there is no detailed information available about the current status of the suspects or the specific businesses affected by the attack.

It's important to note that the explosion caused widespread destruction and five deaths in Berlin on New Year's Eve, but it is not explicitly linked to the ball bomb attack case or provides details about the suspects or impacted businesses.

As the investigation continues, the community in Berlin-Neukölln awaits updates on the progress, the identities or charges against the individuals involved, and the recovery status of the affected businesses.

Politics in Berlin-Neukölln are unsettled following the New Year's Eve ball bomb attack on a local businessman, with general-news outlets and crime-and-justice sectors closely monitoring the ongoing investigation. The arrest of the 36-year-old suspect in March and the charges against the 51-year-old and 35-year-old are significant developments in the case, but the whereabouts of the latter remain unknown. The investigation continues, leaving the affected businesses and community members in limbo.
