Charges denied by Caroline Bosbach anew
In the political landscape of Germany, an ongoing investigation has been taking place since 2023, surrounding allegations against CDU Bundestag member Caroline Bosbach. The allegations centre around her election to the executive board of Mittelstands- und Wirtschaftsunion (MIT) in her electoral district.
According to reports by "Stern" and RTL/ntv, Bosbach is accused of offering payments and benefits during the election process. Specifically, it is claimed that she promised a payment of around 90 to 100 euros for entry into the MIT and offered free catering to influence the election of the leadership team, which included herself.
The CDU executive board has taken several steps in response to these allegations. Initially, they set a deadline (up to August 8, 2025) for Bosbach to clarify the accusations. However, before the deadline, the board postponed a scheduled meeting to allow for a direct, confidential personal discussion with Bosbach, deeming it more appropriate than just written responses.
The board also decided to hand over all relevant documents, including those from the Cologne public prosecutor's office, for independent review. Bosbach has been cooperating fully in the investigation.
As of early August 2025, Bosbach has denied all accusations, stating she did not enrich herself nor caused damage to the CDU Rhein-Berg. The personal meeting with the CDU Rhein-Berg executive board was scheduled for the weekend following August 8, 2025. The details of the meeting remain confidential, and the board's postponed session to discuss these matters publicly has not yet been rescheduled.
There is no public information available confirming a formal conclusion or outcome of the investigation by August 9, 2025. Bosbach has claimed that the allegations are based on manipulated chat logs that were leaked to the press.
Bosbach, known from the RTL show "Let's Dance" and daughter of the former CDU interior politician Wolfgang Bosbach, has denied these allegations. She has also expressed her hope that the matter will be clarified soon, especially given the current NRW municipal election campaign.
The MIT and the CDU have not yet responded to requests for comment regarding the allegations against Caroline Bosbach. Other news portals such as "t-online" and the ARD magazine "Kontraste" have also reported these allegations. Bosbach has requested that the allegations not be the subject of conversation at public appearances.

The investigation surrounding Caroline Bosbach's allegations, as reported by Stern, RTL/ntv, t-online, and ARD's Kontraste, is not limited to politics within Germany, but has gained attention in general news and crime-and-justice sectors. The CDU, in their response to these accusations, has chosen to hand over relevant documents for independent review, falling under the category of policy-and-legislation. Bosbach's case has sparked discussions among various media outlets, illustrating the wide-reaching impact of this ongoing investigation.
