Keenan Allen Returns to the Chargers After a Brief Stint with the Bears
After a brief departure, wide receiver Keenan Allen is returning to the Los Angeles Chargers for the 2025 season. The NFL Network reported that Allen has agreed to a one-year, $8.52 million deal with the team [1].
Allen spent 11 seasons with the Chargers from 2013 through 2023, including the four seasons when the team was located in San Diego. During this tenure, he established himself as a leading receiver for the team [2].
In his most recent season with the Chargers in 2023, Allen had a career-best performance, recording 108 receptions for 1,243 receiving yards and 7 receiving touchdowns [3][4]. These stats place him second in Chargers history for receptions (904) and receiving yards (10,530), behind Antonio Gates [5].
Allen trails Gates in both receptions and receiving yards for the Chargers but ranks third among active players with 59 receiving touchdowns and sixth with 11,274 career receiving yards [6]. He also ranks third among active NFL players with 974 receptions [7].
Last season, Allen spent the year with the Chicago Bears, where he had 70 receptions for 744 yards and scored 7 touchdowns [8].
The Chargers announced Allen's return on Tuesday evening, marking his return to the team where he made a significant impact over the past decade. Allen is looking forward to contributing to the team's success in the upcoming season.
