Monday Night Football Preview: Chargers and Raiders Clash for AFC West Supremacy

The Los Angeles Chargers (1-0) and Las Vegas Raiders (1-0) face off in a crucial AFC West showdown on Monday Night Football, each aiming to secure the top spot in the division.

In Week 1, the Chargers dominated the Chiefs, while the Raiders emerged victorious against the Patriots. The moneyline handle heavily favors the Chargers, with 78% of the handle and 91% of the bets on the Bolts.

However, the Raiders have a secret weapon in Brock Bowers, their standout receiving tight end, who is integral to their offensive strategy. Unfortunately, Bowers is injured, and Harrison Bryant has been tapped as his replacement. If Bowers is unable to play, Michael Mayer and Ian Thomas will be called upon to fill the void.

Mayer was primarily used as an inline tight end in Week 1, a departure from his usual slot role. The Raiders may also promote either Albert Okwuegbunam or Carter Runyon from the practice squad if Bowers is out.

The Raiders' offensive line faces a challenge without Jackson Powers-Johnson, with Alex Cappa likely starting at right guard. Cappa, a seven-year veteran and former Super Bowl champion, struggled last season, surrendering eight sacks and 51 pressures.

Defensively, the Chargers will be without two starters, Elijah Molden and Denzel Perryman. In their absence, Troy Dye (linebacker) and rookie RJ Mickens (free safety) are expected to see increased playing time. Del'Shawn Phillips, a special teams ace, may also contribute as a rotational linebacker.

The total for the game has risen from an opening total of 44.5 to 46.5, but bettors are overwhelmingly backing the under. Currently, 93% of bets and 84% of the handle are on the under, while the over has received a mere 7% of bets, accounting for a larger 16% of the handle.

As of Monday morning, the public is backing the Chargers as 3-point road favorites, receiving 60% of the ATS handle and 60% of the ATS bets. Bettors can get the Raiders at +3.5 if interested. The Raiders currently have 40% of the ATS handle and 40% of the ATS bets.

With a plethora of available picks, predictions, same-game parlays, and player props, this Monday Night Football clash promises to be an enthralling contest. Tune in to witness the battle for the AFC West lead!
