Chaotic Politics Domination: The Disorderly Reign Taking Over Governmental Sphere

In the vibrant political landscape of Tamil Nadu, recent events have highlighted a concerning trend of empty speeches, misinformation, and disruptions during elections. Specific politicos, while not universally documented, have been known to engage in such practices, including blatant lies, self-deception, chauvinism, and denigration of opponents.

One such instance occurred during the by-election in Erode East, where the candidate representing the Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK), M K Seethalakshmi, and her supporters disrupted the counting process, putting security and officials in an embarrassing situation. The NTK, despite having little chance of winning, made a significant disturbance, which many believe was the last hurrah of the party in the hustings.

The dispute over the use of the Thiruparankundram hill, home to the first of the six abodes of Lord Murugan and a dargah dedicated to Sikandar Shah, has resurfaced on social and other media. Politicos from both sides have turned up at the site, making noise over the issue, despite the local people living in harmony and having no differences. A protest was held in Madurai by a group that wants complete control of the hill, attracting a huge crowd. The situation nearly flared up, with both sides raising noisy rows.

Politicos have also been using social media channels like X, Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, and others to make political statements. Journalists frequently refer to the social media pages of leaders to keep up with political developments. This trend of empty talk, misinformation, blatant lies, chest thumping, invoking chauvinistic feelings, and denigrating opponents has become an acceptable practice in Tamil Nadu's political arena.

However, it's important to note that not all political activity in Tamil Nadu conforms to this negative trend. In a positive development, the Supreme Court (SC) has ordered states and UTs to notify rules for registering Sikh weddings, a move that promotes religious harmony and inclusivity.

The expanding support base of politicos who believe in and practice such skullduggery indicates that the people are changing and now relish noises and enjoy watching boisterous, unruly, and dishonest politicos perform their own tricks. This is particularly evident among parties that know they cannot make an impact through the ballot.

As Tamil Nadu moves forward, it's crucial for the political landscape to shift towards more honest, constructive, and peaceful discourse. The people of Tamil Nadu deserve leaders who prioritise the welfare of the state and its citizens over personal gain and political point-scoring.
