Chaotic first week in June marked by repeated turmoil and unrest
Strong Thunderstorms Forecast for Germany, Especially in the South
Unstable atmospheric conditions and warm, humid air masses are expected to bring about severe thunderstorms across Germany in the early weeks of June, according to weather forecasts.
In the following days, starting from Saturday, the country's central regions will be hit by intense thunderstorms, moving eastwards from Belgium around the afternoon. The impact will be similarly strong in other regions on Sunday, albeit with the highest risk of severe weather conditions in the southeastern part of the country.
Temperatures are predicted to be between 25 and 30 degrees, feeling particularly warm and muggy. Coastal areas will be slightly cooler.
The unsettled weather is not likely to subside as next week gets underway, with temperatures expected to drop a few degrees at the beginning of the week. However, lightning and thunder will be less frequent and initially confined to the Alps. By Tuesday, a return of warmer and more humid air is expected, increasing the likelihood of thunderstorms once again.
Midweek temperatures are forecast to remain changeable and moderately warm, with temperatures between 20 and 25 degrees, being warmer in the south than in the north.
Whether the weather will become unusually hot over the coming weekend remains uncertain, with some weather forecasts suggesting as much.
In terms of pollen, grass and rye pollen are currently peaking in various parts of the country. Additionally, dock and plantain pollen are present in moderate concentrations. Significant reductions in the pollen count are only expected during prolonged periods of rain.
Overall, the early part of June is anticipated to be characterized by severe thunderstorms nationwide, with a particular focus on the southern regions of Germany, where heavy precipitation and potential flash flooding are likely. Given these weather predictions, it is advisable to keep a close eye on forecasts for updates and warnings.
In the southeastern part of Germany, the severe weather conditions are predicted to persist just like in other regions.
The potential for heavy precipitation and flash flooding is higher in the southern regions of Germany due to the ongoing strong thunderstorms.
