Chaos on Icy Roads: 18 Crashes Strike Stade in One Night

Heavy snow and icy veins led to a series of crashes in the Stade district over the weekend. Eighteen accidents occurred between Saturday evening and Sunday morning, causing injuries and significant property damage. Police have now launched investigations into two drivers who fled the scene.

The first incidents were reported around 5:20 p.m. on Saturday. Cars skidded off roads, hit guardrails, or collided with other vehicles. Three people suffered minor injuries, while two others sustained serious harm. No fatalities were recorded.

Two drivers left before officers arrived. One, a 21-year-old man, was later found with a blood alcohol level of 2.8 per mille. A 47-year-old woman, also under investigation, registered around 0.4 per mille. Both now face legal consequences.

Police spokesperson Rainer Bohmbach reminded motorists to adapt their driving in winter conditions. The total damage to vehicles and infrastructure is estimated at roughly €100,000.

The crashes caused injuries, property loss, and ongoing investigations. Authorities continue to stress caution on icy veins. Drivers are urged to stay alert and avoid alcohol when conditions worsen.
