Chaos erupts on New Year’s Eve as Bad Kreuznach battles fires and assaults

New Year’s Eve in Bad Kreuznach saw a chaotic night as police and firefighters dealt with multiple incidents. Fireworks were misused, fires broke out, and several assaults were reported. Despite the disturbances, no serious injuries occurred.

The night began with heavy police activity across the city. Officers responded to continuous calls, leading to deployments that lasted well into the early hours. Reinforcements arrived from neighbouring stations to assist with the high volume of incidents.

At Kornmarkt, a police officer suffered injuries after firecrackers and rockets were fired into a crowd. Nine exclusion orders were later issued in the Kornmarkt and Old Town areas to control the situation.

Firefighters were called to Uhlandstraße, where a trash bin fire caused around €10,000 in property damage. Investigators believe the blaze started after fireworks were thrown into the container. Crews managed to extinguish the flames before they reached nearby garages.

Elsewhere, multiple small fires were reported in cardboard boxes and other trash bins. Five assaults took place during the night, with two classified as particularly dangerous.

The night ended without major injuries, though property damage and minor injuries were recorded. Police and firefighters worked through the early hours to manage the incidents. Authorities have yet to announce further action following the events.
