The King Charles III England Coast Path, a proposed coastal route that includes Luccombe and Shanklin on the Isle of Wight, is currently under review. On 9th August 2023, Natural England submitted a report to the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs regarding changes to the proposed route at these locations.

The deadline for comments on the proposed changes was midnight on Wednesday 4th October 2023. After this date, no further representations or objections can be made on the proposals. The Secretary of State will consider all representations and objections received, and a decision about the route at Luccombe, Shanklin will be made in due course.

Objections on the proposals will be passed to an independent planning inspector for review. The independent planning inspector will make a recommendation to the Secretary of State about each objection. However, the inspector who will examine the objections against the proposals of Natural England has not been specified yet.

Once the independent planning inspector has made their recommendations, the Secretary of State will make a decision about the proposed changes. The recommendation about the objections to the proposed changes will be made by the independent planning inspector.
